Spirals are one of the more common forms of British Neolithic art and the triple spiral (or triskele) is often called the 'Spiral of Life'. It denotes the Threefold Goddess, the three stages of the feminine life cycle: maiden, mother, and crone; and the "three realms" - land, sea, and sky.

It is also believed to represent the cycle of life, death and rebirth, the travel from the inner life to the outer soul or higher spirit forms; and the concept of growth, expansion, and cosmic energy.
