The name Urchin or Urcheon derives from the Middle English term for hedgehog, signifying the round spiny hedgehog shape that sea urchins resemble.

Sea urchins are members of the Phylum Echinodermata family, which also includes sea stars and sea cucumbers, "Echinodermate" means "spiny skin" in Greek.

Sea Urchins were Salvadore Dali’s father’s favourite food!
