In old England fossilised ammonites were thought to be petrified snakes. They were known as Snakestones or Serpentstones and were believed to provide protection from snake bites.

Glover and Smith fossil stud earrings are made from solid polished lead free pewter which is non-tarnishing (that was the lead in old pewter) and are guaranteed nickel free and allergen friendly. We use solid Sterling silver ear hooks.
Because we use solid metal the surface of your ammonite stud earrings will never flake like a silver plated earrings. To clean just wash with warm soapy water and occasionally use a silver cloth on the silver wires.
