Personalised Celtic Cross Pewter Christening Spoon UK Handmade
A wonderfully textured and detailed Celtic Cross Christening Spoon, with space for personalising, handmade in the UK by Glover and Smith.
Christening or Confirmation gifts for boys or girls
Perfect gifts for both Church of England and Roman Catholic Christenings and baptisms, the Celtic cross is an ancient form of Christian cross with an additional nimbus or ring surrounding the intersection of the arms and stem. Decorated with intricate interlacing Celtic knot work it makes an ideal gift for a naming ceremony too.
Our Celtic cross spoon has the words “On your Christening” on the back and a blank space for a hand stamped message. We can fit up to 16 characters or spaces onto the spoon plaque and it’s up to you what you want!
This Christening gift for girls or boys is designed to be used and enjoyed later in their adult life, perhaps even being kept and re-presented on their 18th or 21st birthday. The spoon comes with a ribbon tied certificate for the sender to add their own message.
As well as the Christian meaning, the cross also symbolises the fourfold divisions of nature, directions: north, east, south and west, the seasons and the elements: fire, earth, air and water.
Celtic cross symbolism
Celtic crosses are symbols of hope, life, honour, faith, unity and balance. Some say the circle represents the halo of Jesus, while others regard it as a reference to its pagan roots as a sun symbol, or even as a representation of the Roman sun-god Invictus, as it is sometimes known as the Celtic Sun Cross. The circle may also represent infinite love, with no beginning and no end.
Our Celtic Cross Christening spoon is 10 cm long (4") and comes in a black presentation box with certificate.
N.B. Two spoons are shown in some of images, this is to show the reverse of spoon. The box contains one spoon and certificate with ribbon.
UK Handmade Christening Gifts
All Glover and Smith Christening designs are made from solid polished lead-free pewter which is non-tarnishing (that was the lead content in old pewter).
Because we use solid metal the surface of your Christening cross spoon will never flake like a silver plated Christening spoon. To clean just wash with warm soapy water.
All our Christening gifts are completely nickel free and made exclusively by us in Wiltshire, England.
