The illegal trade in ivory is one of the greatest threats to elephants today, but as well as the poaching, human territory is enlarging, so the space they have to live in is rapidly diminishing.
One hundred years ago, there were about ten million African elephants and 100,000 Asian elephants. These numbers have plummeted in the last century and right now there are approximately only 400,000 elephants left in the world. - World Wildlife Magazine.
The mighty elephant is a symbol of strength and power. It is also renowned for its size, longevity, stamina, mental faculties, cooperative spirit, and loyalty.
Each elephant necklace is 28 mm (1.1”) wide. Solid silver 18” (46cm) chain as standard. 22” (56cm) available.
Every piece of Glover and Smith jewellery is handmade from polished solid pewter which is non-tarnishing and is guaranteed lead, nickel and allergen free. We use solid Sterling Silver chain and jump rings for their strength.
Because we use solid pewter the surface of your elephant necklace will never flake. To clean, just wash with warm soapy water and occasionally use a silver cloth on the silver components.
In 2019 Glover & Smith celebrates 25 years of Pewter making.
