By western standards, early teapots are small as they were designed for a single drinker, and the Chinese historically drank the tea directly from the spout.
From the end of the 17th century tea was shipped from China to Europe and the ships that brought the tea also carried porcelain teapots. In Europe, because of its expense, tea drinking was the preserve of the upper classes. Porcelain teapots were particularly desirable because, at that time, porcelain could not be made in Europe.
The teapot teaspoon is 11.5cm (4.5”) long and comes presentation boxed.
All Glover and Smith designs are made from solid polished lead free pewter which is non-tarnishing (that was the lead). Because we use solid metal the surface of your teapot teaspoon will never flake or rust, just wash with warm soapy water to clean.
