"O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?" - Edward Lear
The Owl and the Pussycat
The famous work is a nonsense poem by Edward Lear, first published in 1871. It features four animals – an owl, cat, pig, and turkey, and recounts the story of the love between the title characters, who marry in the land "where the Bong-tree grows".
The term "runcible", used in the phrase "runcible spoon", was invented for the poem.
The silver coloured bowl is 9 cm (3.5”) in diameter and 2.8 cm (1.1”) deep, the cat is 2.8 cm (1.1”) high and the accompanying owl spoon is 8.9 cm (3.5”) in length.
Each owl and pussycat gift set is packaged in a presentation gift box with care instructions.
10 Year Wedding Anniversary
Every Glover and Smith owl and pussycat bowl and spoon is handmade from polished, solid lead-free pewter which is non-tarnishing (that was the lead in old pewter) and completely nickel-free and food safe.
Because our designs are all created in solid metal, the surface of your owl and pussycat bowl will never flake like a silver plated bowl. To clean, simply wash with warm soapy water.
All Glover and Smith pewter bowl and spoon sets are made exclusively by us in our workshops in Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK.
